Just Ask

I love this article by Elizabeth Gilbert so much, I wanted to share it again in a place I won’t lose it! There is so much to be said for searching your heart, and asking for what you truly want. I’m not talking about the stuffology style ask, where we allow our inner consumerist to run rampant over our lives. This is the type of ask that gets right to the core of who you are and what you’re meant to do in this world. As Gilbert states:

…the mere act of saying aloud “This is who I am and what I’ve come for” seems to awaken a powerful force within.

Another way to say it is, when we ask the question, “How can I best serve?” we will be amazed at the response. Service can refer to a specific situation, a moment in time, or a life’s calling or vocation. Either way, this type of “ask” speaks to the heart of who we are.

But I digress. The gracious and eloquent Elizabeth Gilbert said it way better, here:

VABB (Vanilla Almond Butter Banana) Shakeology

This is one of the first Shakeology recipes I created to satiate my taste buds! Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Vanilla Almond Butter Banana 

1/2 cup – 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk (I use So Good) – the more almond milk you add, the creamier your shake will be

1 scoop Vanilla Shakeology

1 tbsp almond butter

1/2 banana

Add all ingredients to your Magic Bullet or blender, blend until smooth.

Tip: I make my Shakeology first thing in the morning, and refrigerate it until I’m ready to drink it. This gives it time for the flavours to blend. Dee-licious!

Choco Banana Almond Shakeology

Ok, so Les and I have been using Shakeology for a while now, and we are both fine tuning our favourite recipes. Chocolate is a winner, hands down! It’s amazing to have something so nutritious that also tastes amazing! Without further adieu, here is one way to enjoy your healthiest meal of the day:

Choco Banana Almond Shakeology Drink

In a blender or mixer (I use a Magic Bullet, but any kind will do), add together:

1/2 banana, cut into pieces

1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

1 cup water

1 scoop Chocolate Shakeology (or 1 packet if you are using single serving pouches)

Blend until creamy. Drink. Love. Enjoy.

Accountability

One of the biggest reasons that the Beachbody Challenge appealed to me is that it offered accountability. I am accountable to myself and my partner, Les. I am accountable to my kids. Salmon with Preserved Lemon and Quinoa Tabbouleh

This recipe is ah-mazing! Big thanks to my mom who found it and brought it to my attention. SO delish. A note: it helps if you are already a lemon lover as the flavour is quite strong.

It looks like a lot of steps, but it’s pretty simple when you break it down. Plus, the lemon vinaigrette can be made a few days in advance if desired.¬†For this dish, begin with the preserved lemons and work your way back to the salmon. Continue reading
